Reflecting on “Balinese Blooms: Gelli Plate Printing and Collage Exploration”

We’ve just wrapped up an unforgettable 5-day artistic retreat in Bali, and I am beyond thrilled to share the highlights of our “Balinese Blooms: Gelli Plate Printing and Collage Exploration” workshop. Guided by myself, Leanne Daquino, this immersive experience brought together a wonderful group of creative spirits seeking to escape the winter chill and embrace the vibrant energy of Bali.

Held from Sunday, June 23 to Saturday, June 29, our days were spent exploring the fascinating technique of Gelli plate printing and the art of collage. Participants learned to create beautiful papers, master color theory with a limited palette, and arrange their creations for maximum visual impact. The serene rice fields surrounding Ananda Resort in Ubud provided the perfect backdrop for our creative endeavors.

Our stay at Ananda Resort was nothing short of delightful, with 6 nights of shared or single accommodations, cooling pools, and delicious Indonesian and international breakfasts and lunches. Afternoons were sweetened with studio teas, and we drew endless inspiration from the tropical flowers and gardens around us.

The workshop also included visits to a Balinese family compound and local galleries, adding cultural depth to our artistic journey. By the end of the retreat, participants left with two completed floral creations and lifetime access to an online workshop covering the skills learned.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this magical retreat. Your creativity and enthusiasm made it an event to remember. For more information on future workshops, feel free to contact me at leannedaquinoart@gmail.com.

Until next time, happy creating!

Leanne🌸
